About SWAAC
The aim of SWAAC is to facilitate the placement of children for adoption within the consortium area. It is a way of sharing resources and information to achieve the best outcomes for children, maximising the choice of families and reducing the time that children wait for the right adoptive family.
The member agencies aim to promote and raise awareness of adoption in South Wales and the surrounding area and agencies work together to recruit, prepare and support adopters.
Choosing families for children
This is the primary function of the Consortium. Adoption agencies in SWAAC send details to the Consortium about the children needing adoptive placements and adopters who have been approved for adoption.
A specialist computer system lists the possible links of the children to the adopters and the Consortium Coordinator selects the most appropriate. Relevant paperwork is distributed to the agencies' social workers to enable them to find the best placement for the child.
